     George Lucas: Biography

    Lucas went on to produce such well known films as: Captain Eo (), in connection with Disneyland and Michael Jackson, Labyrinth (), Howard theDuck (), The Land Before Time (), Willow () and Indiana Jones andthe Last Crusade () which coincidentally earned an Oscar for Best Sound Design. He also served as a story author and executive producer of the television series, The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles (premiered in ), which eventually received the Banff Award for Best Continuing Series, a Golden Globe nomination for best Dramatic Series, and Angel Award for Quality Programming, 12 Emmy Awards and 26 Emmy nominations.
    Though Lucasfilm Ltd. was established in , it has since evolved into five Lucas companies.

    In Lucas was honored with the Irving G. Thalberg Award. The Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences gave the Award.

    The William G. Hunter Award was established by the Statistics Division in to recognize the many contributions of its founding chair at promoting the use of applied statistics and statistical thinking. The attributes that characterize Bill Hunter's career -consultant, educator for practitioners, communicator, and integrator of statistical thinking into other disciplines -are used to help decide the recipient.

    Dr. Lucas is the principal at J. M. Lucas and Associates, a consulting firm in Statistics and Quality Management. This firm implements business systems with statistical aspects. Before starting his own consulting firm Dr. Lucas was a Senior Consultant at DuPont’s Quality Management and Technology Center for over twenty years where he conducted his early seminal workon applied statistics.

    Dr. Lucas’s research focuses on practical solutions to real-world problems, emphasizing the underlying science for the problem. He has successfully integrated statistical thinking with other disciplines throughout his career. For example, he wasa major contributor to the

    Brian James (b. ) is a singer/songwriter. Born in Saskatoon, Canada to Canadian parents, he grew up in Oranjestad, Aruba. He learned to play piano, guitar and sing from a young age. He fronted teen-rock band Exit Only that charted a few hits on the Aruban airwaves in from their EP “Take It From The Top”.

    After moving to Leiden, the Netherlands in the ’s, Brian played in numerous bands, most notably the Boys of Summer. During that period, Brian continued to write and arrange music, laying groundwork for future projects.

    In , he released his debut album “Right Here”, featuring the single “Fifteen” which garnered local airplay. “Right Here’s” theme is the passing of time, with a nostalgic look to the past and and unsure, yet optimistic look towards the future. The album was produced by David Cok of Amini records and features contributions by Camilla van der Kooij (violin), Wouter Kiers (saxophone) and Andreas Robbie Carree (drums).
