Michael Jeffrey Jordan is a former professional basketball player, entrepreneur, owner, and chairman of the Charlotte Hornets.
He is considered one of the most famous and popular athletes of his era, playing a key role in popularizing the NBA worldwide. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Jordan's family moved to Wilmington, North Carolina when he was young.

LOS ANGELES (WABC) -- A talk show host with a house band and band leader has become a staple of late-night television, and Jimmy Kimmel is no exception.
But there is a special relationship at play in his case, and getting his band together had one requirement.
"I'll tell you one thing," he said. "It had to have my band leader, Cleto."
Born in Brooklyn, Kimmel moved to Las Vegas as a child and met best friend Cleto Escobedo at the age of 9, when they performed in the band together.
"He was a child prodigy," Kimmel said. "Like the whole school would gather to watch. He'd get standing ovations. It was a crazy thing."
Cleto had his influences, growing up the son of a professional musician.
"He became a professional musician," Kimmel said. "He toured with Earth, Wind and Fire, Paula Abdul. He had his own record deal."
Growing up, they both admired David Letterman and his band.
"And I just thought, oh my God, you know?" Kimmel said. "I have a talk show. Cleto has to be my band leader."

When Cleto and the Cletones band leader Cleto Escobedo, III, says that his team on Jimmy Kimmel Live! is like a family, it’s no exaggeration. His bandmates have been a part of his life for 25 years, since his early days in Los Angeles. His father, Cleto Escobedo, Jr., is a part of the band. Plus, he’s known Jimmy since childhood, as nine-year-old’s in Las Vegas.
In their teens, Cleto and JImmy were big fans of late night television in the early ’80s, especially Late Night with David Letterman. But the friends never dreamed they’d one day occupy the coveted time slot.
While Cleto showed early talent and interest in music, Jimmy was drawn to comedy. “That [late night television] really wasn’t an aspiration, though I would have loved to be a rock star guest on a show,” Cleto laughs, adding, “but I’ll take the gig!”
He was in Atlanta on tour with Marc Anthony when he got the call. “Jimmy told me he got the show with ABC and asked me if I wanted to be the band leader,” says Cleto. “Of course, I said, ‘Hell, yes!’”

"Jimmy was at the house every day, slept over our house," he said. "I would wake up early in the morning and I would hear [a noise], and I said, 'That's Jimmy.' Because Jimmy had a little allergy problem."
Jimmy's friendship with Cleto Escobedo Jr. began when he was 9 years old. So when he headed to late night television 10 years ago, he asked Cleto to be his bandleader.
"I always thank him for this gig because he could have tried to get somebody that was established and would help the show more, being a bigger name or whatever. But he trusted me with this job, and I've tried to do the best I can," said Cleto Jr.
And one of the best things he did was hire his dad to be in the band.
"I look to my left and I see him [and I] still get chills, you know, all the time. I mean, what dad doesn't want to be playing along musically with their son? It's a great, great feeling," said Cleto Sr.
