MACBETH, GEORGE, landowner, entrepreneur, and politician; b. 4 Nov. at the Red River Settlement (Man.), eldest of the eight children of George Macbeth and Catherine Sutherland; d. 3 June at London, Ont.
George Macbeth’s parents, from Leirobol in Kildonan, Sutherland County, Scotland, were evicted in the Highland clearances and arrived at the Red River Settlement in In the family travelled to Upper Canada by canoe, to farm first at Port Talbot, Dunwich Township, and later in Euphemia Township.
About young George began to work for their neighbour, Colonel Thomas Talbot*, and gradually became what Edward Ermatinger* described as “at once a personal attendant and business and farm manager.” In Talbot’s nephew, Richard Airey, took over the Port Talbot estate, and Macbeth and Talbot then visited Great Britain and the Continent, returning in The following year, Talbot and his nephew quarrelled. Talbot then made a settlement with Airey, transferring one-half of his estate to him, and in a will named Macbeth the beneficiary for almost all the remainder, valued at about £50, The bequest was not surprising considering Talbot’s split with his family,

INTRODUCTION
At about lines, Macbeth is Shakespeare's shortest tragedy and among the briefest of his plays. Scholars generally agree that the drama was written around because various references in the play correspond to events that occurred in that year. Many also believe that it was composed for a performance before King James I, who had a deep interest in witchcraft. Quite possibly the play was one of the court entertainments offered to King Christian IV of Denmark during his visit to London in In addition, researchers suggest that Shakespeare may have written Macbeth to glorify King James's ancestry by associating him, through the historical Banquo, to the first Scottish king, Kenneth MacAlpin. The principal historical source for Macbeth is Raphael Holinshed's Chronicles of England, Scotlande, and lrelande (). However, Shakespeare took great liberties with this source, adapting various historical events to increase the dramatic effect of his tragedy.
Four hundred years later, students and actors continue to explore and embrace Macbeth

George MacBeth Biography | Author of Bedtime Story
George MacBeth is a poet of trickery and wild contradictions who has made a career out of defying expectations for what constitutes "good" poetry. Born in to George MacBeth and Amelia Morton Mary Mann MacBeth in the small town of Shotts, Scotland, MacBeth was raised in Sheffield. His poetry, however, is marked with a big city, often world-weary consciousness. In he graduated from New College, Oxford with a degree in Classical Greats, and later produced shows on literature and the arts for the BBC. His poetry, however, often undermines the constraints, both thematic and stylistic, of Classical literature. Although his first collection of poems, A Form of Words (), was relatively in keeping with the conventions of mid-century British poetry, most of the poetry he published after is a macabre verse laden with black humor, which embraces various kinds of satire, parody, and often unidentifiable tones.
