Mark was born in Bermuda in moving to England in He began painting at the age of 8 and has pursued his passion for art throughout his life.
Mark studied Fine Art Painting at St Martins School of Art and the Royal College of Art.
His life and work have taken him across the globe, living in Nepal, India, and the USA. Despite his international experiences, Mark has always identified as a Bermudian.

Hans Hofmann
Hans Hofmann was a German-born American abstract expressionist painter.
Hofmann was born in Wei&#;enburg, Bavaria on March 21, , the son of Theodor and Franziska Hofmann. When he was six he moved with his family to Munich. Here his father took a job with the government.
Starting at a young age, Hofmann gravitated towards science and mathematics. At age sixteen, he started work with the Bavarian government as assistant to the director of Public Works where he was able to increase his knowledge of mathematics. He went on to develop and patent such devices as the electromagnetic comptometer, a radar device for ships at sea, a sensitized light bulb, and a portable freezer unit for military use. Even with such great abilities in science and mathematics, Hofmann became interested in creative studies, beginning educational art training after the death of his father.
In he immigrated to the United States, where he resided until the end of his life.
Hofmann's art work is distinguished by a rigorous concern with pictorial structure, spatial illusion, and color relationships.

Martin Hoffman, a prominent artist whose work in the s was simultaneously identified with high art (gritty realist paintings sold through the O.K. Harris Gallery in New York) and low (illustrations for Playboy), has died at his home in Vero Beach. He was 77 and had been in fragile health.
As an artist, Martin Hoffman was hard to pin down. “I always work simultaneously on several things,” he said. “It gives people problems because they can’t pigeonhole me.”
Throughout his career, his style ranged from energetic abstraction and hard-edge pop to photo-based realism and minimalism. In recent years, he created a series of autobiographical paintings in a winsome, cartoon-like style. He also did a series of subtly hued works in which inscrutable words half-disappear into the paint in which they are inscribed.
