The Bible Story of Abraham
Abraham lived in the Old Testament days but is mentioned 72 times in the New Testament. The Hebrews Hall of Fame (in Hebrews 11) says, “From this one man, and he as good as dead, came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and countless as the sands on the seashore. He is called “God’s friend” (James ), a moniker with special meaning because of the covenant God initiated with him. He was just a human like you and me, but Abraham’s story is part of our story and one we all should know.
Where Was Abraham Born?
Abraham (first known as Abram) was born the son of Terah, who lived near the southern Mesopotamian city called “Ur of the Chaldees.” contributor Maddy Rager explains this city (located in modern-day Iraq) worshipped a moon god called Sin. Abram went north because God had a plan for eternity that included this man and didn’t include worshiping Sin.
The fact that one day, of all of his years, Abram heard God call out to him is more than amazing. The idea that God told him to “leave your country, your people, and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you” demonstrates a relationship of trust or at least knowledge of God
Discover the Story Of Abraham in Summary. Who was Abraham in the Bible? Abraham is the first of the Hebrew Patriarchs and a figure revered by the three great monotheistic religions – Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Abraham or, in Hebrew, Avraham, originally called Abram or, in Hebrew, Avram, is a prominent figure who flourished early 2nd millennium BCE. The Biblical book of Genesis reveals that Abraham left Ur, Mesopotamia, following God’s call for him to start a new nation in an undesignated land that he later learned was Canaan. Abraham unquestioningly obeyed God, from whom he received repeated promises and a covenant that his “seed” would inherit the land.
In Judaism, the promised offspring is understood to be the Jewish people descended from Abraham’s son, Isaac, born of his wife Sarah. Likewise, in Christianity, the genealogy of Jesus is traced to Isaac, and Abraham’s near-sacrifice of Isaac is regarded as a foreshadowing of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. In Islam, it is Ishmael, Abraham’s firstborn son, born of Hagar, who is viewed as the fulfillment of God’s promise, and the Prophet Muhammad is his descendant. This is probably due to the many interpretations ar

Abram (his birth name before being renamed Abraham) is the third son born to a man named Terah living in Ur of the Chaldees. The family into which he is born was known to worship pagan deities (Joshua ).
Modern archeology dates the city of Ur, located in ancient Mesopotamia near the Euphrates River, to around 3, B.C. It was resettled, after the great flood took place in , by Noah's son Shem and his descendants.

The Life of Abraham
Abraham is one of the most blessed people in the Bible. Although Scripture is not a comprehensive history of humans it does, however, chronicle the relationship of one man and his descendants with the Creator of the Universe. Ultimately, it is a record of how God has and will bless mankind through the life of the next person in our timeline.
The apostle Paul not only confirms that the world is blessed through Abraham's faithful life but also that anyone who has faith in God is considered one of his spiritual sons and heir of the promises.
Because of this, you should understand that those who are of faith are the true sons of Abraham.
Now in the Scriptures, God, seeing in advance that He would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, "In you shall all the nations be blessed." It is for this reason that those who are of faith are being blessed with the believing Abraham. (Galatians - 9, HBFV, see also Romans ).
Abraham, without a doubt, lived a most fascinating life! Abram (his birth name before God renamed him) was born in the city of Ur of the Chaldees to a family that included older brothers Haran and
