HARARE — PHD Ministries leader Walter Magaya, outgoing Premier Soccer League chairman Farai Jere, former Warriors’ icon Benjani Mwaruwari, and ex-Norton MP Temba Mliswa faced humiliation on Monday after failing a ZIFA integrity test, intensifying the drama in the race for Zimbabwe’s football leadership.
The disqualifications followed a rigorous screening led by a committee chaired by respected former Harare Mayor Muchadeyi Masunda.
The ZIFA Normalisation Committee released the final list of eligible candidates, narrowing the presidential race to six contenders: Marshall Gore, Philemon Machana, Nqobile Magwizi, Martin Kweza, Twine Phiri, and Makwinje Phiri.
“The ZIFA Normalisation Committee acting as the ZIFA Electoral Committee in accordance with Article 85(9) is pleased to announce the names of all the candidates who have met the eligibility criteria stipulated in the ZIFA Statutes, ,” the committee said in a statement, adding that no press conference would be held to elaborate further.

Temba Mliswa has come out to move for the elimination of all viable rivals in the Zimbabwe Football Association presidency whose elections are set to run in January
Temba came up with a litany of complaints against the eligibility of CAPS United chairman and Member of Parliament Farai Jere, Northern Region chairperson Martin Kweza, Sakunda Special Projects Manager Nqobile Magwizi, and Heart Stadium owner Walter Magaya.
Mliswa alleged that first two candidates are conflicted, Magwizi should not take credit for Sakunda's role in improving football conditions in the country while Magaya should not be given credit for his personal stadium which is a commercial venture and not truly public infrastructure.
Mliswa's campaign trail for the Zifa president's post suffered a false and embarrassing start after the former Norton legislator was snubbed by key members of the Zifa Congress he had hoped to lure into his camp.

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) presidential race took a dramatic twist as Prophet Magaya, Farai Jere, Benjani Mwaruwaru, and Temba Mliswa were disqualified after failing the integrity test.
The quartet&#;s bid to participate in the ZIFA presidential race was dismissed by the committee led by lawyer Muchadei Masunda.
Six candidates successfully passed the integrity test for the ZIFA presidential race.

A record ten candidates cleared the integrity test for the ZIFA vice presidency.
The include Mavis Gumbo, Patience Mutumwa, Winnet Murota, Joyce R Kapota, Loveness Mukura, Kennedy Ndebele, Omega Sibanda, Peter Dube, Francis Nyamutsamba, and Simbarashe J Takava.

Bulawayo High Court judge Justice Ngoni Nduna has transfered Temba Mliswa&#;s challenge over the holding of Zifa elections on January 25 to Harare on the basis that his matter is of similar basis with that of Prophet Walter Magaya also seeking a stay of the plebiscite.
Magaya&#;s case is set for tomorrow before High Court judge Justice Tawanda Chitapi.
Mliswa and Magaya, aspiring Zifa presidency candidates, are seeking the postponement of the elections which are penciled for January
Both were failed Zifa&#;s eligibility test and Mliswa wants the whole process to be started afresh from the crafting of constitutional amendments as they were done by people whose mandate had expired.
Both cases will now be heard by Justice Chitapi in Chitapi.
