Why Create Biographies?
When someone has a biography written about them, it is because they have done something in their life that others consider to be quite important--important enough to learn and write about! Usually the person has done something positive and admirable and is an inspiration to others.
In order to create a biography, students will learn about the person’s early life, childhood, education, family, and accomplishments. It is also important for the student to be able to express why they chose this person, and the impact this person has made on the world or the student’s life in particular. Characterization Project: Body Biographies
· The materials included in this document can be used as a way of helping students develop their skills in selecting strong & relevant textual evidence in order to examine how a character develops throughout the course of a novel.
· This project is typically used as part of a larger unit that focuses on character change and writing a character analysis essay (the focus of our writing work is the organization within body paragraphs). However, this project can be used on its own or as part of any unit that requires students to analyze characters using textual evidence.
· I have included links in the file to a Google Slideshow that you can use with your class and a Google Document that can be shared via Google Classroom with students so that they can collaborate on their collection of evidence.

This project is an excellent representation of how students can conduct analysis for a notable person or biography your students are studying in class. We want our students to infer tangible traits and values from accurate details found in the text.
