Who Is Christiane Amanpour?
Christiane Amanpour is considered one of television's leading news correspondents. After first gaining notice for her report on Iran, which won the DuPont Award, Amanpour has received multiple Emmys and countless other honors for her work, including several Peabody awards and an Edward R. Murrow Award. She is CNN's chief international correspondent and has worked for CBS' 60 Minutes and ABC News.
Early Life and Career
Amanpour was born on January 12, , in London, England. The daughter of an English mother and Iranian father and the oldest of four sisters, she spent time in Tehran, Iran, while growing up. An accomplished equestrian who competed as a child jockey, she was sent to a Catholic girls’ boarding school in England at 11 years old. Her world was turned upside down in when the revolution toppled the shah of Iran, spurring her family into exile and sparking Christiane’s future career interest.

Christiane Amanpour is a British-Iranian journalist and television host best known for serving at CNN as the Chief International Anchor. Moreover, she is also the host of CNN International&#;s nightly interview program titled Amanpour. Christiane is also the host of a show titled Amanpour & Company on PBS.
As a broadcast journalist, Amanpour has covered some of the world&#;s notable events for ABC, CNN, and CBS. Previously, she has also worked for CBS Minutes and ABC News.
When she cleared her primary school education in Iran, Christiane went to study in a boarding school in England. Afterward, Amanpour joined Holy Cross Convent, an all-girls school situated in Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire.
Additionally, she has also studied at New Hall School, a Roman Catholic school in Chelmsford, Essex. She moved to the United States and joined the University of Rhode Island. Christiane graduated from the university with a B.A. degree in journalism.
