Pictures of jeffrey dahmer crime scene

At a casual glance, Jeffrey Dahmer’s $a-month, one-bedroom furnished apartment appeared ordinary—a beige couch, a fish tank, an Oriental rug.

Little did anyone suspect that the walls of Apartment also held the sinister secrets of one of the most notorious serial killers in history.

Less than a week after moving into the apartment, Dahmer killed his sixth victim, Raymond Smith.

The day after the murder, Dahmer went out and purchased a Polaroid camera.

Upon returning home, the Milwaukee Cannibal took photos of Smith&#;s posed body in suggestive positions before dismembering him in the bathroom.

Within the next five months, Dahmer claimed the lives of three more men before involuntarily taking a break.

Between October and February , at least five of Dahmer&#;s attempts to lure men into his apartment were unsuccessful.

During his meetings with the probation officer, Dahmer complained of feelings of anxiety and depression with frequent references to his sexuality, his solitary lifestyle, and financial difficulties.

On several occasions, Dahmer also revealed he had suicidal thoughts.

While Dahmer's horrific acts of murder and cannibalism shocked the nation, it was a collection of Polaroid photographs found in his apartment that provided some of the most damning and disturbing evidence against him.

The Discovery That Broke the Case

On July 22, , Milwaukee police officers responded to a call about a man wandering the streets with a pair of handcuffs dangling from his wrist. This man was Tracy Edwards, who had narrowly escaped from Jeffrey Dahmer's apartment after being held captive there. Edwards led police back to Dahmer's residence, apartment at the Oxford Apartments.

The man, soon identified as Tracy Edwards, a year-old black man from Tupelo Mississippi, had handcuffs dangling from his left wrist. Edwards told the cops that he had to "use karate" to fend off the "freak" that had tried to kill him.

On the night of July 22, , year-old Tracy Edwards flagged down two Milwaukee police officers claiming a “freak” kidnapped and handcuffed him. Edwards accompanied the policemen back to Jeffrey Dahmer’s apartment, where he claimed to have been held captive for five hours.

Upon arrival, Edwards revealed Dahmer also threatened him with a knife and told him he wanted to eat his heart.

Surprisingly, Dahmer did not seem bothered by Edwards’ claims and simply directed the officers to a handcuff key on his bedside dresser.

Upon entering the bedroom, the officer stumbled upon a large knife hidden under the bed as well as an open dresser with nearly 80 Polaroid pictures of dismembered human bodies.

“These are for real,” the officer called back to his partner in the living room. The discovery startled Dahmer, who tried to avoid arrest but was quickly overpowered by an officer.

During his confessions, Dahmer told the police he would pose his dead victims and their body parts and then photograph them with a Polaroid camera.

He would masturbate to the heads and body parts as he recalled the murders and fantasized about the actual event.

On July 22, , police made a gruesome discovery while searching the apartment of Milwaukee serial killer and cannibal, Jeffrey Dahmer. Officers were led to apartment after finding Dahmer’s final victim, Tracy Edwards, who had managed to escape and run down the street with a pair of handcuffs dangling from one of his wrists.

Edwards, 32, told police Dahmer restrained him and threatened him with a knife, according to the Los Angeles Times. When police entered the apartment to question Dahmer and find the key to the handcuffs, they also searched Dahmer’s room to find the knife.

But what the officers found was much more disturbing than a weapon. Close to 80 Polaroids of naked, posed and dismembered bodies were discovered in Dahmer’s open dresser drawer. After arresting Dahmer, a search of the apartment revealed a grisly collection of severed heads, bleached skulls and a gallon vat of acid for dissolving human flesh, according to the Oxygen documentary “Dahmer On Dahmer: A Serial Killer Speaks.” In his fridge, officers found neatly packed body parts ready for consumption, and forensic evidence later revealed the remains were from 11 different victims.
