Three days after the death of his father either in February or March A.D., prince Jauna Khan alias Ulugh Khan ascended the throne of Delhi and was called Muhammad Bin Tughluq. He remained at Tughluqabad for forty days and then entered Delhi where he was heartily welcomed.
He too, on his part, lavishly distributed gold and silver among his subjects and high offices to his loyal officers. Whatever might be the role of Muhammad Tughluq in the death of his father but none opposed him when he ascended the throne.
